Overview

The Equipment Automation Engineer provides technical expertise and support for all production equipment.  This includes design and programming of new, automated equipment, support of existing equipment on a day to day basis, troubleshooting, equipment validation/verification, equipment specification creation and resolution of production processing issues.  The Equipment Automation Engineer will work closely with other engineers in the department, as well as Operations and Equipment Management personnel.

 

Pay:   $79,152 - $103,740/yr based on relevant years of experience.

Bonus:  10% target Bonus Program based on individual and company metrics.

Shift:  Monday-Friday; 8:00am – 5:00pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Design and programming of new custom equipment and equipment modifications.
  2. Develop, plan, implement and support automation-based projects and solutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams, including determination and delivery on cost, time and quality to ensure the sustained production.
  3. Work closely with the Engineers on process and programing issues.
  4. Program troubleshoot and repair of automation.
  5. Maintain reliability metrics on critical equipment.
  6. Create and maintain documentation associated with custom equipment.
  7. Consistent adherence with company policy, safety guidelines, quality practices, standard operating procedures, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive company information.
  8. Reviews work to ensure errors do not result in serious injury to a graft recipient, injury to an AlloSource technician, regulatory non-compliance, excess expense to the company.
  9. Participates in special projects and supports Operations activity on an as needed basis.
  10. Participates in financial objectives and performance goals.  
  11. Adheres to and promotes proper practices and techniques which are consistent with current operating procedures, training requirements, safety practices and company policies.
  12. Performs work with minimal supervision and occasional follow-up.
  13. Provides system training and project guidance for newer engineers. 
  14. May perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.   

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 7-10 years’ experience in an Engineering function
  • Experience with automated equipment design and programming

 

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Structured/formal problem-solving methodologies (A5, 5 Whys, 8D, etc.).
  • Master’s degree in Engineering
  • A background in an FDA regulated products/processes (tissue banking, medical device or pharmaceutical) or other regulated environment
  • Experience with CNC
