  • Overview

    The Colorado BioScience Association (CBSA), a 501(c)(6) organization that facilitates the growth of the bioscience industry in Colorado, is seeking an outstanding individual to serve as the next CBSA President and CEO. The successful candidate will build on the growth of CBSA in representing and advocating for the 350 biotechnology, medical device, diagnostic, digital health, agricultural biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies and world-class academic centers that comprise its members. 

     

     

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Providing a compelling guiding vision for the organization and its members while actively liaising with national industry organizations.
    • Proactively build, represent, promote, and maintain relationships with members, sponsors, grantees and others while raising fund.
    • Developing and implementing an effective advocacy and lobbying program while coordinating outreach efforts to out-of-state potential investors.
    • Regularly developing and updating strategy and strategic planning.
    • Providing management support and direction to CBSA’s board, committees, and other volunteers.
    • Overseeing membership development.
    • Helping set and implement effective internal and external communications strategies.
    • Developing and meeting an annual budget.
    • Recruiting, hiring, managing and retaining experienced staff, and advancing overall team development.
    • Identifying the requirements for and managing contract employees.

     

     Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited higher education institution required (advanced degrees are a plus).
    • 7 plus years of experience in either non-profit, government or corporate setting managing and developing staff and budget
    • Substantial visionary leadership experience in a relevant organization, preferably a membership-based, non-profit organization.
    • Familiarity with and passion for the variety of constituencies and the language of the bioscience industry.
    • Demonstrated experience/ability to build and cultivate relationships with members/ sponsors and raise funds and develop resources.
    • Experience serving as a spokesperson to various audiences is highly desirable.
    • Experience working with/reporting to a board of directors is preferred.
    • Program and policy development experience is a positive.
    • Must be willing to travel periodically.

     

     

    COMPENSATION

    Compensation will be a base salary and variable incentive compensation that is market-based within associations of similar size, and will correspond to the experience level, credentials, and personal characteristics of the candidate. CBSA’s full package of employee benefits will be offered to the successful candidate including 401(k) plan with a matching provision, and health, vision, dental, life and disability insurance.
